~ Expanding TAG ~

After many years of wishful dreaming, the  expansion of the Theatre Arts Guild's Pond Playhouse is finally happening!
Serious planning started in 2004 and culminated in the start of excavation on March 25, 2006. The building is expected to be
erected and weather tight by the end of June, 2006. Completion of the interior will be done as money becomes available.
The two storey addition has a lobby, washrooms and refreshment facilities on the ground floor
and a rehearsal space and washroom on the second. The plans included a basement, but that idea was quickly abandoned
when a massive outcrop of bedrock was discovered soon after excavation began.
The new lobby will solve the crowding inside and the discomfort of standing outside in inclement weather waiting for the house to open.
The large room on the second floor will permit full scale rehearsals to take place without the inconvenience and
scheduling problems now encountered while ongoing productions are in the theatre, or the stage, sets and lighting are being prepared.
A contractor is busy doing the initial framing and construction of the shell.
The interior will be completed using largely volunteer labour.
